Nutriflex Peri Parenteral nutrition for patients w/ mild to moderate catabolism when oral/enteral nutrition is impossible, insufficient or contraindicated. Nutriflex Plus Parenteral nutrition for patients w/ moderately severe catabolism when oral/enteral nutrition is impossible, insufficient or contraindicated.

Nutriflex Peri Individualised dosage via IV infusion into peripheral or central veins. Max: 40 mL/kg/day. Max infusion rate: 2.5 mL/kg/hr. Max duration: 10 days for applications via peripheral venous access. Childn 2-17 yr Max: 50 mL/kg/day. Nutriflex Plus Individualised dosage via IV infusion into central veins only. Max: 40 mL/kg/day. Max infusion rate: 1.6 mL/kg/hr. Childn 2-17 yr Max: 42 mL/kg/day.

Hypersensitivity. Inborn errors of amino acid metabolism; acidosis; hyperglycaemia not responding to insulin doses up to 6 u/hr; intracranial or intraspinal haemorrhage. Unstable circulatory status w/ vital threat (eg, states of collapse, shock, fluid overload, pulmonary oedema); acute MI & stroke; unstable metabolic condition (eg, coma of unknown origin, hypoxia, decompensated DM). Severe hepatic insufficiency & severe renal insufficiency in absence of renal replacement therapy. Should not be used in newborn infants, infants & toddlers <2 yr.

Caution in case of increased serum osmolarity. Patients w/ impaired cardiac or renal function; insufficiencies of liver, adrenal glands, & lungs; damaged haematoencephalic barrier; DM; Na retention. Correct fluid, electrolyte or acid-base balance prior to infusion. Monitor blood glucose level. Reduce infusion rate or administer insulin if there is hyperglycaemia. Interrupt administration if blood glucose conc >14 mmol/L. Concurrent use of other IV glucose soln; soln containing Mg, Ca, & phosphate. Abrupt discontinuation may lead to hypoglycaemia, especially in childn <3 yr & patients w/ disturbed glucose metabolism; monitor for at least 30 min on the 1st day of abrupt discontinuation. Monitor serum electrolytes, water balance, acid-base balance, blood cell counts, coagulation status, & hepatic/renal function. Risk of fluid overload w/ pathological serum electrolyte conc, hyperhydration, pulmonary oedema & polyuria w/ too rapid infusion. Infusion in peripheral veins may cause thrombophlebitis. Risk of pseudoagglutination w/ simultaneous administration of blood in the same infusion set. Pregnancy. Not recommended during lactation.

Rarely, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite. Nutriflex Peri Vein irritation, phlebitis, thrombophlebitis.

Use w/ caution in patients receiving medicinal products that increase serum K conc (eg, K-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors, AIIA, cyclosporine, tacrolimus). Corticosteroids & adrenocorticotropic hormone are associated w/ Na & fluid retention.
